As the days get shorter and the temps drop, chlorophyll breaks down in the leaves, and they begin to transition from green to the beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows. The changing leaf color should be your signal to start carrying your Zippo rechargeable hand warmer.

Zippo Rechargeable Hand Warmer Review
The Zippo HeatBank 9s Rechargeable hand warmer is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and carry while you are on a hike, cooking food at the campsite, mountain biking, skiing/snowboarding, our your kid’s soccer game. This little device comes in handy all the time.
First, was at the top of the Wasatch Crest trail in Park City, Utah. This is a classic trail that runs the length of the Park City ridgeline and maintains an elevation around 9,500 feet. The winds and temps on top of the ridge were downright cold as we waited for the rest of the crew to reach us at the top. So, I pulled out my handy Zippo hand warmer and warmed my hands before the descent.
Second, was on a hike to Bloods Lake. The day started sunny and warm, but by the time we got to the lake, the winds had kicked in, and snow began falling as we hiked back to the trailhead. Therefore, my wife was especially stoked that we had the Zippo rechargeable hand warmer on the hike.
Third, it came in useful during a late fall camping trip to Moab. At night the temps dropped to the mid-20s, and it was downright chilly in the morning cooking up breakfast. Under those circumstances, it was a great way to warm the hands as we cooked.
Take it Everywhere
Since then, I’ve learned to simply put it in my pack so that it’s always with me in case I’m in a bind and need to charge my phone, headlamp, 2-way radios, or warm my hands. It also has an eyelet at the top that you can put a lanyard through and wear around your neck. That way, you can have a nice warmth against your chest.
Battery Life and Temps
The hand warmer is a battery bank that fits in the palm of your hand. The battery provides the heat, and the rechargeable handwarmer has six heat settings. Zippo says the hand warmer can last up to 9-hours at the lowest temp setting (single green light), but I haven’t timed it to confirm the accuracy of that statement. Although, what I can say is the charge is more than plenty to warm my hands and charge my phone to check my GPS.
To recharge the hand warmer, plug it in via the USB connection, and it will charge within a couple of hours when it’s completely dead.
Since it’s rechargeable, you don’t have to throw it away after each as you do with traditional hand warmers. As a result, the Zippo rechargeable hand warmer can be used hundreds of times. In addition, you can use it to charge your phone, headlamp, or any other electronic device.
Lastly, the additional benefit of the Zippo rechargeable hand warmer is that you can use it if your hands are wet. You can’t do that with disposable warmers!
Common Questions
Question: How many charges will it take before it loses efficiency?
Answer: I’ve been using it for over 7 months and it seems to be as good as when I first got it.
Question: How waterproof/resistant is it?
Answer: It does not have an IP rating, and is not waterproof. I wouldn’t drop it in water, or let it get rained on, but when my hands are damp and cold it works great.
Question: Will it fit in a ski glove or mitten?
Answer: I wear size XL gloves and it fits inside gloves and mittens. My friend has size medium and it fits in his as well.
Question: Is there one or two heaters in the unit.
Answer: On the low temps it only heats on one side. For the three high temps, it heats on both sides.
