Product Description

Weighing in at just over a half-pound, the insulted Therm-a-Rest NeoAir UberLite Minimalist Backpacking Air Mattress is a highly packable sleeping pad perfect for ultralight camping and backpacking that demands a minimalist pack. Therm-a-Rest’s proprietary construction provides the critical warmth needed in the backcountry offering an R-value of 2.0 (R-value measures the material’s ability to insulate; the higher the R-value, the warmer the sleeping pad). Boasting 2.5-inches of luxurious NeoAir comfort, the minimal UberLite makes a big impact during nights in the backcountry. The tapered design reduces weight without compromising warmth, and the unique fabrics used for this pad meet strict durability standards that backpackers, alpinists and thru-hikers can depend on. This camping air mattress inflates in less than two minutes by blowing into the valve, and packs to the size smaller than a one-liter water bottle. Available in 3 sizes: Small measures 47x20x2.5 inches inflated, packs to 6x3.3 inches, and weighs 6 ounces; Regular measures 72x20x2.5 inches inflated, packs to 6x3.5 inches, and weighs 8.8 ounces; Large measures 77x25x2.5 inflated, packs to 7.5x3.7 inches, and weighs 12 ounces. Stuff sack and repair kit included. Manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty. Made in the USA.

I bought two of these pads for a backpacking trip in Yosemite. My daughter tried hers at home. It was easy to inflate and lightweight, which made it ideal for our trip. The problem occurred the first night when I tried to use my sleeping pad. It inflated easily, but as soon as I laid on it, the baffles near the valve popped open with an explosive sound. Without the baffles, the top of the pad expanded like a balloon, and it was impossible to put my head or anything on it. Even the part where the baffles didn’t open was not usable as it couldn’t hold its shape, and with any pressure the air displaced to the ballooned part. I tried sleeping on the damaged pad, but it was impossible. The other pad did not come undone like mine, but it was very noisy. It made creaking noises anytime the person sleeping on it moved, waking up everyone in the tent. With these problems no one could get any sleep. The situation was hopeless. Our trip was ruined, and we were forced to return home after the first night.

This was a very light air pad and repacked very easy. It comes with a hand held blow up bag. First time to use one and it actually worked great. But still, I cheated and ordered a small hand held blow up device to blow up my pillow and sleeping pad. Life if good.

I went from a over one pound pad to this! Its so small and light you wont even know you are carrying it. It came with a little stuff sack, it comes rolled up inside the pad when you open the box, I didn't know until i used it the first time. I stayed in a lean to for 3 days, 2 nights and it stayed inflated the whole time. It feels so thin i was nervous about it popping. i used a piece of Tyvek to lay down on the floor under the pad. Not sure if it was needed or not but i have heard this pad is very durable. Blew up in a few breaths. Deflating was quick and getting it into the stuff sack was not a problem. This is very pricey but i dropped over a half a pound from my back. Wasn't noisy enough for me to notice if it was. Over all if you have the money to spend on this, do it. Very nice pad.

Love this pad but hate the sizing choices. My ideal pad would be 22-23 inches wide and 55-60 inches long.

Sleeping bag companies figured out more than 20 years ago now that people don’t sleep like stiff straight logs. The stopped making super narrow mummy bags and started smart shaping them to give space for people to bend their knees, move their feet slightly apart, keep their arms folded up by their chests.

Yet, these pads are still designed as if people still sleep like stiff straight logs and don’t have arms (or more specifically - elbows. Gasp!!!) Want to lay on your back and look at maps on your smart phone? Too bad for you, your elbows won’t fit!!! Want to roll over at night? Too bad for you, as you will fall off the pad unless you completely wake yourself up and use your hands to rebalance yourself on the balance beam of which a 20 inch wide pad is. Want to curl up on your side on a cold night in the jack knife position and have warm knees? Too bad for you because both knees won’t fit and at least one be freezing as it rests on the cold tent floor. Want to set up your tent on the last campsite available which is slightly sloped? Too bad for you because pad is so narrow you won’t be able balance in the middle of it due to the slope and you will roll off it repeatedly during the night.

I’m also not sure why the comfort choices are full length or torso length. Why not knee length?? I personally don’t care if my feet hang off a pad but do want my knees on the pad - especially when side sleeping. Once your knees fall off a three inch high pad, your body goes akimbo. If your feet dangle off, no big deal. Plus, there’s generally something in your tent that can support dangling feet but not something big enough to support dangling knees, at least not comfortably. My ultralight backpack is too delicate to take the kind of abuse my knees would give it night after night.

Per Cascadia Designs. Either you need to buy a giant pad built for giant men or you need to sleep really uncomfortable. A different size selection would be really beneficial.

I’m 5’ 5” (65 inches) but to be comfortable in any of those scenarios I have to buy their gargantuan pad that is 2 feet too long just to a few extra inches in width. It’s silly.

Back to the pad itself. I got the small. Great pad. I’ve had it for four weeks on the PCT. No leaks. Easy to blow up. Easy to pack up. Incredibly light. Quite comfortable aside from the sizing issues.

(I do protect it by using a 1/8 inch foam pad beneath it. The foam pad not only protects it from punctures but also keeps it from sliding around my tent and adds a little bit of r value. I can also use the foam pad during the day as a full length sit pad.)

The weight claim is off just a bit but it’s still a 4 Oz weight savings from last Neoair. I just wish they had it in a women’s mat. Take two inches off the length and add it to the width to fit a women’s wider hips.

I replaced a Flash that weighs twice as much. I've spent 4 nights on the UberLite. The fabric is noisy, but the mattress is comfortable. The regular size is narrow but so am I. ** Examine your package and test the mattress before hitting the trail. My first shipment came without original packaging or instructions. And it appeared to be an outdated model. And it leaked. Already returned once? A replacement came in an unopened retail box and works great.

I have used this tent twice now, and I have loved it! It weighs half as much as my X lite, it is half the size and it is just as comfortable. One thing though, I am pretty small, and I fit on it exactly, a bigger person might have some trouble

I used thermalrest mats for years and newer had any problems with it. Get this one Wednesday and went to backpack trip on Friday. At first night internal structure riped off and made two bulbs. It was absolutely impossible to sleep on it so I had to cancel my trip and back home. I'm 6'3'' and about 220 pounds and know how to use this type of may. So I think it is design problem and have to return it.

This model doest allow you to roll the air out when you pack it because of the internal construction. It is very inconvenient when you are travelling every day. The second use it popped loudly a couple times and developed a bulge. I contacted the manufacturer and they didn’t reply.
